According to the latest data from the State Administration of Foreign Exchange (SAFE), at the end of 2021, China’s foreign financial assets reached us $9,324.3 billion, its foreign liabilities reached US $7,341 billion and its foreign net assets reached US $1,983.3 billion.Among the foreign financial assets, the direct investment assets were us $2,581.9 billion, the securities investment assets were US $979.7 billion, the financial derivative assets were US $15.4 billion, the other investment assets were US $2,320.5 billion and the reserve assets were US $3,426.9 billion, accounting for 28%, 11%, 0.2%, 25% and 37% of the foreign financial assets respectively.Among foreign liabilities, direct investment liabilities amounted to us $3,623.8 billion, securities investment liabilities amounted to US $2,155.4 billion, financial derivatives liabilities amounted to US $10.3 billion and other investment liabilities amounted to US $1,551.6 billion, accounting for 49%, 29%, 0.1% and 21% of foreign liabilities respectively.
